Mardi grew up among the apple orchards and chestnut groves of northeast Victoria, Australia. After starting out her career in healthcare, Mardi transitioned to sales roles in the medical device industry and held senior executive positions at privately held and public listed manufacturing companies. After a career based in Sydney, she located with her family to Hawke’s Bay in 2012. She was with recruitment company Populous People for nine years where she gained a solid understanding of the Hawke’s Bay business community. Immediately prior to joining HBREDA, Mardi worked in Parliamentary Services supporting the Cyclone Gabrielle recovery.

Mardi has a Master’s in Strategic Human Resource Management from Macquarie University, Sydney and a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from Macquarie University, Sydney. In her personal time, Mardi is a patient advocate and sits at advisory board level here and in Australia representing health consumers, championing the interests and rights of consumers in discussions and decisions that shape industry regulations and standards.
