Lucy Laitenen
CEO
Lucy joined HBREDA in August 2023 as the founding CEO. Prior to this role Lucy was the CEO of Anglican Care Waiapu, based out of Napier. During this time Lucy led a rethink of how the Anglican Diocese of Waiapu thought about, measured, and invested for social impact. Lucy has held several general management roles at World Vision New Zealand, the country’s largest humanitarian organisation, and has experience in local and central government. Earlier in her career she worked for the International Organisation for Migration in Finland office where she was responsible for developing and gaining funding for projects across the Nordic and Baltic states on migration-related issues such as human trafficking, asylum, and labour migration.
Lucy has a Masters in Development Studies from the University of Cambridge and a BA (Hons) in International Relations from Victoria University of Wellington. Lucy grew up on farms in Hawke’s Bay and Ruatoria on the East Coast and now lives with her husband and their two children near Havelock North. She is in this role because she believes we need to have an evidence-based, collective, and steadfast regional approach if we are serious about improving the wellbeing of everyone in Hawke’s Bay.
